Kenichiro Yoshida

Executive Chairman, Sony Group

Kenichiro Yoshida joined Sony Corporation in 1983. After working in finance and investor relations, he gained experience in domestic sales to consumer electronics retailers, and was then assigned to a U.S. subsidiary. Upon returning to Japan, he served as Chief of Staff to the then CEO. In 2000, Yoshida was seconded to Sony Communication Network. In 2005, he was appointed as President and Representative Director. In December of the same year, he led its listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In 2012, So-net was acquired by Sony through a tender offer, and in December 2013, Yoshida returned to Sony as CSO and Deputy CFO. In 2014, he assumed the role of CFO and led a process of structural reforms. In 2015, he executed Sony’s first public offering in 26 years and accelerated its investment in the semiconductor business. In April 2018, Yoshida was appointed President and CEO. In his first year, he defined Sony’s Purpose and focused on investing in content IP. He also advanced the evolution of Sony’s business portfolio - driving its shift from an electronics-centered business structure to a creative entertainment company. From April 2025, he is Executive Chairman of Sony Group Corporation.
