Pavida Pananond

Professor, Thammasat Business School

Pavida Pananond is Professor of International Business at Thammasat Business School, Thammasat University. She holds an MBA from McGill University and a PhD from the University of Reading. Her research focuses on global strategy, particularly how firms from emerging markets expand internationally, navigate global value chains, and respond to shifts in global industry governance. She has published extensively in leading academic journals, including California Management Review and Global Strategy Journal, and serves as Area Editor for the Journal of International Business Policy. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the prestigious Alan Rugman Visiting Fellowship (2024-25) at the University of Reading’s Henley Business School.

Beyond academia, Pavida is a recognised thought leader in international business. Her insights are frequently sought by global media, including Al Jazeera, BBC, Bloomberg, Channel News Asia, and Financial Times. She has conducted policy research for major international organizations such as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the World Health Organization (WHO), contributing expertise on trade, investment, and industrial policies in emerging markets.

Since 2017, she has served as an Honorary Adviser to the Asia New Zealand Foundation, supporting initiatives that enhance New Zealanders’ engagement with Asia. Additionally, she holds a board position at Precious Shipping Public Company Limited, Thailand’s leading dry bulk carrier. A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, Pavida actively contributes to discussions on global business strategy, economic policy, and Southeast Asia’s evolving role in the world economy.
