Ferruccio Ferragamo was born in Fiesole, Italy in 1945 and is the eldest son of Salvatore and Wanda Ferragamo.
He has served as Chairman of Salvatore Ferragamo Italia S.p.A. (now Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A.) since 2006. His professional experience with the Group began in 1963, at the age of 18, when he began supervising the production and working in the management of the stores. He later assumed various roles in the Company's finance and administration departments and became general manager in 1970. From 1984 to 2006 he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Group and since 1996 he has served as Chief Executive Officer of Ferragamo Finanziaria which is the controlling holding company of Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A.
Currently, he is also Chairman of Ent-Art Polimoda, director of Pitti Immagine and Centro Moda and Chairman of the Committee for the “Formazione di Intesa Interassociativa,” an umbrella group for various Italian fashion-related trade associations. He is an honorary attendee of the Council Meetings of Confindustria, the Italian Companies' federation.
Additionally, he has served as member of the board of directors of Fondiaria Assicurazioni S.p.A., Marzotto S.p.A. and Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze.
He has received many awards and aknowledgments for the work carried out while leading the Group, such as MF Fashion Award in 1999; Businessman of the Year in 2004 and the Art and Technology Award in 2006.
Ferruccio Ferragamo has six children. James, one of Ferruccio's twin sons is Product Director of Woman's Leather of Salvatore Ferragamo Italia S.p.A. Salvatore, Ferruccio's other twin son, runs Il Borro, his country estate. Vivia, Ferruccio's eldest daughter is a fashion stylist. Olivia graduated from the American University in Paris and recently moved to Rome, after a profitable experience at Condé Nast in London, while his youngest daughter Vittoria, who also graduated from the American University in Rome, is currently engaged in various working experiences. Francesco, his last son, is nine years old.
His hobbies are hunting, skiing, and managing Il Borro, his Tuscan property, which is a large productive vineyard and agritourism business.
