Hitoshi Okawa

Director, Senior Executive Vice President, INPEX

Hitoshi Okawa joined INPEX CORPORATION (formerly known as Indonesia Petroleum, Ltd) in 1994 following ten years with Japan China Oil Development Company in various domestic and international assignments.

In 1998, following four years in the Accounting & Finance Division at INPEX Tokyo head office, Mr. Okawa transferred to INPEX Browse Ltd, joining the inaugural Perth office team.

Mr. Okawa returned to Tokyo office in 2002, taking on managerial roles in the Planning & New Ventures Department and Corporate Strategy & Administration Division over three years.

In 2005, Mr. Okawa returned once again to Perth to oversee Commercial & Corporate Coordination. He assumed his role as Director, Corporate Coordination in 2009. In 2019, he became President Director, Australia and he has taken up a role of Senior Vice President Oceania Project for INPEX CORPORATION since January 2022.

After 18 years in Perth, Mr. Okawa returned to Tokyo in November 2023, taking the lead in Oceania projects. In March 2024, he was appointed Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer, responsible for General Administration and Oceania Projects.

As of April 2025, Mr. Okawa has been serving as Director, Senior Executive Vice President, responsible for General Administration and Oceania Projects, and also holds the position of Head of Overseas Projects.
