Michaela Browning is a Partner and the CEO for Asia Pacific at Brunswick Group. She also serves on several boards in Australia and across the region, related to business, technology, defence, and education. Prior to this, she was Vice President and Regional Head of Government and Public Policy for Asia Pacific at Google.
Michaela has held a range of senior positions in the Australian Government, including serving as a senior diplomat for more than 27 years with a focus on Asia, trade, and security, and as Senior Adviser to the Foreign and Defence Ministers. She was Consul-General for Hong Kong and Macau (2017–2020), the inaugural CEO of the National Foundation for Australia–China Relations (2020), and has led global investment promotion and trade teams. She also worked as a trade negotiator at the WTO and on the Australia–US and Australia–Singapore Free Trade Agreements.
Among other roles, Michaela is an Australian representative to the APEC Business Advisory Council and serves on the boards of the US-ASEAN Business Council and the Australia–Japan Business Cooperation Committee, where she co-chairs the Defence, Security and Space Committee. She was recently appointed as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Singtel Optus, where she chairs the Defence and Satellite Committee, and to the board of Blue Forge Alliance Australia.
