Kaori Takahashi is a Senior Producer at Nikkei Inc. and the founder of the Nikkei Asia Forum Australia. She specializes in international affairs, geopolitics, economic security, and Australia–Japan relations.

From 2013 to 2018, she served as Nikkei’s Sydney Bureau Chief, leading coverage of Australian politics, energy and resources, trade, and regional affairs. During her tenure, she reported extensively on the evolving Australia–Japan relationship and the growing strategic and economic importance of the Indo-Pacific region.

Drawing on this experience, she launched the Nikkei Forum Australia in 2024 to strengthen dialogue and business engagement between Japan and Australia. Now known as the Nikkei Asia Forum Australia, the event has become a leading platform bringing together senior leaders from government, business, academia, and the media to explore opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation and to address the key economic, geopolitical, and strategic challenges shaping the region.

Takahashi graduated from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and studied at St Anne’s College, University of Oxford.
