Marcus Dawe is a climate thought leader, serial tech entrepreneur, board member and Chair based in Canberra, Australia. Marcus is CEO and co-founder of MCi Carbon, an award-winning Australian clean technology platform transforming CO2 emissions into building materials and other valuable industrial products for the circular economy. After the first IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report was released in 2007, firmly identifying CO2 emissions as a root cause of our rapidly changing climate, Marcus was a first mover in developing a technology platform to decarbonise heavy industry and address the major global challenge of emissions reduction and avoidance. Marcus has secured over $80M AUD continuous funding from Australian Governments, and industry partners and investors, for its ongoing development. This includes 'Myrtle' - the world's first 'carbon refinery' based in Newcastle.

Marcus has secured investment into MCi from Japanese partners including Itochu Corporation, Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank and Mitsubishi Ube Cement Corporation, in addition to RHI Magnesita, based in Austria where MCi will be building its first commercial plant. Marcus is leading MCi and its team in Newcastle, Canberra, and Sydney into the US$6T marketplace for carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) solutions. Marcus is a recipient of the ACT Chief Minister Entrepreneur of the Year Pearcey Award, the Wholistic World Innovation Prize and AmCham Alliance Award. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and studied computer science at ANU.
