ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP IN INDIAN OCEAN-AFRICA FORUM

OVERVIEW

Africa is a region where business opportunities abound. For Japanese corporates, however, the region remains uncharted, and few are ready to accept the risks that accompany business in Africa. One effective way of controlling risks is teaming up with companies in countries such as India and the Middle East that have achieved success in the region. In this forum which coincides with TICAD 9 (Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development), Nikkei Inc. together with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will bring together government leaders, business executives and senior officials of international organizations to discuss how Japan can accelerate investment in Africa by collaborating with countries in the Indian Ocean Rim.
