Erez Vigodman has been appointed President and CEO of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (“Teva”) on February 11, 2014. Teva, established in 1901, today ranked among the 12 top pharmaceutical companies in the world and it is the leading global generic company (2013-net revenues: $20.3bn, net profit $4.3bn). Since Mr. Vigodman’s arrival, Teva has been undergoing a major transformation course.
From January 2010 to February 2014, Mr. Vigodman served as the President and CEO of Adama Agricultural Solutions (formerly Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd.), the world’s leading generic agrochemical company. In that time, he returned Adama to profitability and transformed the company through a comprehensive strategic plan that included bold moves and outstanding growth initiatives in key markets, significant operational efficiencies, enhancement of its product portfolio, major leap in R&D infrastructure and capabilities and improvement of products selection processes. He led the expansion of the company into emerging markets across Asia and Latin America, and engineered a reverse merger transaction with ChemChina, giving Adama access to the Chinese market and laying the foundation for comprehensive operational and commercial platforms in China. During his tenure, the company also changed its name from Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd . to Adama, as part of its transformation into a single global brand.
From 2001 until the end of June 2009, Erez served as President & Chief Executive Officer of the Strauss Group, Israel’s second-largest food and beverage company. In this capacity, he led all major change processes the Group has undergone thus far, including the merger in Israel between Strauss and Elite and the international expansion of the group, transforming Strauss into a global company. The Strauss Group has been awarded many tributes over these years, including its selection, in 2008 by the Securities Authority, as one of Israel’s five exemplary companies.
Earlier in his career, Erez served as CEO of Elite between 1998-2001. This appointment was sealed about a year after he had joined Elite as CFO and Deputy CEO, and prior to that Erez served as a partner in the accounting firm Somekh-Chaikin (KPMG) between 1991-1996, which he joined at the end of 1987 upon graduating from Tel Aviv University.
Awards :In 2007, Erez was granted the Industry Award and has been included several times on the list of Israel’s Top Ten Business Leaders.
Directorship:As of June 2009, Erez serves as a member on the Board of Directors of Teva.
Public Activity:Erez serves as a member of the Advisory Committee to the Israel National Economic Council, and as a member of the international advisory board of the Israel Science Technology & Innovation Policy Institute. From 2005 until 2009, Erez has been a member of the Advisory Board to the Governor of the Bank of Israel.
