Nikkei Asia Forum Perth, themed “Navigating Unprecedented Challenges: Japan–Australia Partnership for Economic Security & Strategic Investment,” aims to explore the multifaceted Japan–Australia partnership against the backdrop of Japan’s new government and dynamic regional changes. The forum brings together business leaders, policymakers, and academics from both countries, alongside journalists from Nikkei and Nikkei Asia.
Sessions will focus on energy security, trade resilience, and the enhancement of defense capabilities, underscoring the collaborative roles of Japan and Australia in fostering sustainable and diversified bilateral frameworks.
The forum seeks to harness key insights and shape future strategies to strengthen economic security partnerships, while providing participants with exceptional networking opportunities to build enduring collaborations in the rapidly evolving Indo-Pacific landscape.
This forum is intended to serve as a prelude to the upcoming Joint Business Conference of the Japan–Australia Business Co-operation Committee (JABCC) and the Australia–Japan Business Co-operation Committee (AJBCC), scheduled to take place in Chiba in October.
More importantly, this forum has been officially approved as an Anniversary Event for the 50th Anniversary of the Signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Co‑operation between Japan and Australia, and will provide a platform for broad discussion on the role Japan and Australia should play in an increasingly challenging global environment, with a view to further strengthening friendship and shared prosperity between the two countries over the next fifty years.
